The Passionate Women Cake Eating Party

In December my book was ready to reveal the world. I had worked out the final kinks after several trial printings and was finally happy with the result. I contacted all of the fabulous women who had made the book possible and asked them if they would be interested in coming to my favorite coffee shop – (and home away from home of passionate woman Jenn De Valk) – Moziro, to celebrate the book’s completion by drinking frothy drinks and eating cake. The gorgeous, delicious, and oh-so-chocolatey cake was made by the talented Gerald Billings, of Merridale Ciderworks. Jenn’s husband Jake was our cheerful barista. The women came, talked, laughed, made connections they didn’t know they had, and ate cake. They signed each others books like teenagers on the last day of school. I can’t express how happy I am to know them all. Some were friends when I started the book in February of last year, and some were strangers. Seeing them laughing and talking together, books in hand, with flowers and cake on the table, was a big moment for me. The few who couldn’t make it were missed. Thank you all, Passionate Women!

Book Launch and HeART Party

February 14th is a great day to celebrate passion! What better day to launch a book about leading passionate lives? Here I am with two of my favorite artists, Pipi Tustian and Coco Jones. This photo was taken for the article in the Cowichan Valley News Leader –

The book launch/heART party is 6-9 pm on Tuesday, February 14th at Embellish in Duncan, BC. Several of the talented artists profiled in the book have generously donated artwork with a heart theme for Valentine’s Day. There will be bubbly beverages and some sweet treats on offer, a draw to win a gift basket, a 7 p.m. book reading, books for sale, and the opportunity to meet many of the amazing women living their lives of passion in the Cowichan Valley. 100% of the profits from the sales in the “HeART Gallery” will go to The Somenos Transition House to help other women in the Valley to achieve their heart’s desires. The Duncan thrift store affiliated with Somenos Transition House – WINGS II: Women in Need Growing Stronger – is in need of nightgowns, housecoats, slippers, yoga pants, or shirts and skirts suitable for job interviews. A donation of any of these items would be greatly appreciated. If you have plans with your sweetie just make them a little later and come to Embellish first – sweeties welcome too, of course!

My book is finished! You can preview it and place an order for it at http://www.blurb.com by clicking here:

It is 8″ x 10″ landscape format and retails for 43.95 plus tax and shipping for the soft cover standard paper version. It is a simple ordering process, and your order should arrive within 7 days.

If you are local to the Cowichan Valley you can also check with me to see if I have any copies by emailing me at lesart@weallr1.org. As the book is self-published and printed on demand I do not usually have a big stockpile in my closet, but it is worth checking – if I have copies I am happy to arrange a pickup for you. I am trying to do my bit for the planet by printing only enough books that have willing homes waiting for them!

To order from me: email me with how many books you would like to order and I will send a “pay me money” link from paypal. You can then pay by paypal or credit card. If I place a bulk order I may be entitled to a small discount, which I will happily pass along to you.

Happy reading!

Well, my book is nearing completion! Thanks to everyone who has participated in bringing it to life, including photographer extraordinaire Brenda Colby. As soon as I send it off to the printers I’ll be back here blogging about it in more detail. Until then…
